PRAISE
the Lord for a lively and profitable session of our Teachers Forum on Saturday in Escondido. Volunteers from lots of different clubs came together to pool their ideas and delve into Genesis to get prepared to teach the "Patriarchs" series of Bible lessons in the schools. Above are three members of the team from the Good News Club at Felicita School in Escondido, Mary Schuhler, Doug Smith, and new volunteer Anita Chisholm. Anita is wearing a Willie the Witnessing Worm -- he helps explain the gospel to kids through his colors. Everyone at the class received a worm courtesy of Colleen Medin of the Los Penasquitos GNC, seen below at right along with Inga Hughes (left) from the Willow Grove club in the Poway district, and Anna Vargas who is working to get a club organized for Orange Glen School in Escondido.

Richland School in San Marcos was represented by Marian Kisling, who's been involved in Good News Clubs since the 50s, and Vicky St. Onge and Loraine Doud, both of whom are newcomers to the ministry.
Four clubs are represented below: From Oceanside, La Keisha Fairbee (Laurel School), and from Escondido, Kay Serrano (N. Broadway), Leroy Wentz (Rose, starting Nov. 3), and Cricket Carlson (Oak Hill, starting Dec. 2).

The Farr Ave. School club was recently blessed by being assigned the classroom of a teacher who is a Christian and is very happy to have the club at her school! Above are daughter-mother team Holly and Carol Williams (left and right) with their good friend Jessica Sun in the center. This club starts Oct 20 -- please see the prayer request below. Old friends Susie Covert and Judy Erickson (below) have been serving together for years in GNCs in Escondido. Judy is currently writing an article for the "Good News, Etc." Christian newspaper about the GNC ministry in the schools in our area.

Miller School

PRAISE
God for a report from team leader Didi Pressley about the first meeting of the Good News Club at Miller School in Escondido (photo above) on Oct 9: "We had 65 kids at Miller and it was so good to be back with the kids and to see a lot of new faces."

PRAYER NEEDS

PRAY
for the GNC at Farr Ave. School in Escondido (above) starting Tuesday, Oct 20, 2:35-3:35pm. Flyers have gone out to the parents -- please pray for a positive response and a big turnout of kids on opening day. Pray that as the team members bring God's Word to the kids, it will be with the power of the Holy Spirit, and that as "Jesus Christ and Him crucified" is proclaimed, boys and girls would turn to Him in faith. Please pray that Christian kids will be drawn into a greater devotion to the Lord.

PRAY with the volunteers of the LR Green School GNC in Escondido as they get ready to start. Leader Teri Chalfant sends this message:
"Would you put out a praise and prayer request for our team? Praise to the Father for bringing Michelle to our team, and for Lynn who will be helping us on our first day. Prayer for: Michelle who needs God's comfort, encouragement, and peace at this time. Lynn, that she will make a committment to the GNC LR Green if it is in line with God's will for her. Team cohesiveness and spirit of peace and joy as we draw near to the start date on Oct 29."

PRAY for the team at Glen View School in Escondido as they continue to deal with behavior problems from some of the kids. Please pray for God's wisdom in handling these issues, and that He would work to change kids' hearts.

In the fellowship of our Lord,
Robert Burkley

..."Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.   --Mark 10:14-16
